The Heritage
The Windermere Tea Society desires to develop the art of gracious conversation. High tea and afternoon tea are considered one and the same, and are simply referred to as a social tea.
The practice of our Tea Sandwich creed, is to ensure a wonderful social tea with friends.
The Tea Sandwich
At every gathering, we remember the four courtesies of a tea social:

DO create cheerful conversation

DO NOT discuss politics or family issues

DO NOT be loud
-
DO reach out to quiet guests; include everyone
Like a proper tea sandwich, the courtesies are best enjoyed together.
Customs of the Society
Each meeting follows a casual but welcoming agenda led by our host and follows the following order:

The First Pour

Each meeting begins with the first pouring of tea and a brief welcome from the host.

The Reading of the Tea Sandwich

A member reads the society’s four courtesies to set the tone for the gathering.

The Featured Tea

Each meeting highlights a particular tea, briefly introduced by the Steward of the Tea.

The Circulation Bell

At a certain moment, the society bell may ring, inviting companions to circulate and greet someone new.

The Teacup Toast

Meetings conclude with a simple toast to good tea and good company.

Honorary Offices of the Society
From time to time, companions may serve in one of the following playful offices:

Keeper of the Kettle

Ensures the tea flows freely.

Introduces the Tea of the Month.

Bellringer of the Society

Signals moments of circulation.

Lady (or Lord) of Sandwiches
